·         Options available and the price of stone flooring- Granite is unique and costly, owing to its pattern and rarity of the color. It is also heavier than marble making the shipping more expensive and the final cost much higher. Marble on the other hand is usually manufactured in bulk, which eliminates the need for cutting and shipping. It costs comparatively less than granite.

Wall tile installation involves four stage process, namely, prep, layout, applying adhesive and tiles and finally grouting the tiles. During thin wall tile installation ensure that there are no lippage and that the edges are covered completely.

Preparing the surface- before installation ensures that the surface is dry, flat, smooth and clean. Wall tiles are easy to install over plaster and drywall, but in wet areas, it is installed over cement board or cement backer board.

Creating a layout- find the center of the wall and use a level to create intersecting horizontal and vertical layout lines. Adjust the layout lines as per the requirement for best appearance.

Choosing and applying adhesive- for wet areas, it is essential to use cement-based thinset adhesive which adheres to cementboard without breaking down. For dry locations, use pre-mixed mastic adhesive for wall tile. With the help of notched trowel, apply the adhesive to the wall without hiding the layout lines.

Installation of wall tiles- place the first row and column of the tiles as per the layout lines and press the tiles firmly and twist slightly to embed them into the adhesive. Make use of tile spacers to set consistent gaps for grout joists as required.

Grouting the tile- after the tile adhesive has fully cured, choose sanded or unsanded grout depending on the width of the grout joints. Remove the tile spacer before grouting. Mix the grout as per the manufacturer’s instruction and press grout firmly into the joint spaces. Wipe joints and tiles with clear water and grout sponge. After the grout set up, use a soft cloth to buff away any grout haze from the tile faces.
